Tennessee horse thieves charged

A Tennessee couple have been charged with first-degree theft in Madison County, Alabama, for stealing horses from a pasture in New Market, Alabama.
According to the Huntsville Times, Madison County sheriff's investigator Ronnie Truett told District Judge Susan Moquin that James Owen Bolton, 41, and his wife, Tammy, 38, allegedly stole two gray mares, then tried to sell them to a farmer in the county,.
The farmer remembered the tag number on the truck, said Truett, and James A. Miller, an investigator for the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries, followed the lead and tracked the Boltons to a motel outside of Fayetteville, Alabama, where they were apprehended.
The couple had sold three horses to traders outside a stock sale near Fayetteville, and gave the motel's address for the sales record.
One of the gray mares was located in Georgia and the other mare was found on the Bolton's Tennessee farm, assistant district attorney Jeff McCulsky reported. The case has been bound over to the grand jury.
The couple is also charged with stealing two horses in Tennessee, Miller told the Times.
