Pennekamp returned to Kildangan after surgery
European classic winner Pennekamp, who underwent surgery for colic last month in Ireland, returned to Kildangan Stud on Monday.
The eight-year-old son of Bering (GB) underwent surgery on March 21 at Troytown Veterinary Hospital in County Kildare. Joe Osborne, managing director of Kildangan Stud, said Pennekamp has made a good recovery but will not cover any mares "for at least another month."
Pennekamp won 6-of-7 starts during his two-year career in the mid-1990s, including the '95 Two Thousand Guineas (Eng-G1) and '94 Dewhurst Stakes (Eng-G1) and Prix de la Salamandre (Fr-G1). He was the highweighted two-year-old colt on the French Free Handicap of 1994 after also winning the Prix du Haras de la Huderie.
