Group 3 winner Tim Bero closed a productive two-year-old season with a come-from-behind victory in the Clasico Alberto Vial Infante (Chi-G1) on Friday at Club Hipico de Santiago.

Sent off as the 1-to-9 favorite, the Tumblebrutus gelding closed with a rush from the middle of the track to outfinish runner-up Hoy Si in the final strides and prevail by a neck.

Stakes winner Elgon Professional finished another four lengths back in the 16-horse field.

Ridden by Oscar Ulloa and trained by Antonio Abarca, Tim Bero covered 1,600 meters (7.95 furlongs) in 1:35.74 on turf rated as good for his second straight group stakes victory and first at the top level.

With the victory, Tim Bero solidified his status as Santiago’s top two-year-old male on turf and improved his record to three wins in four starts.

Runner-up to Elgon Professional in the Clasico Archi at Club Hipico de Santiago on May 8, Tim Bero entered off a 1 3/4-length victory on turf in the Clasico Alvaro Covarrubias (Chi-G3) on May 29.

Owned by Stud Doña Pancha and bred by Haras Mocito Guapo, Tim Bero is one of three stakes winners from the first Chilean crop of the Storm Cat stallion Tumblebrutus, a full brother to 2000 European Horse of the Year and sire Giant’s Causeway.

Tim Bero is one of seven winners out of the Mocito Guapo mare Marbella.

Earlier on the card, maiden winner Pampa Oceanica rallied to a breakthrough victory in the Clasico Arturo Lyon Peña (Chi-G1) for two-year-old fillies on the turf.

Under vigorous urging from Gonzalo Ulloa, the Ocean Terrace filly rallied strongest on the outside to collar favorite Belle Watling by three-quarters of a length.

Outsider Mizona finished another 1 3/4 lengths back in third in the 16-horse field.

Conditioned by leading trainer Patricio Baeza, Pampa Oceanica completed 1,600 meters in 1:36.69 to improve to two wins, two seconds, and one third in seven career starts.

Pampa Oceanica entered off a sixth-place finish in the Clasico Julio Subercaseaux Browne (Chi-G3) at Club Hipico de Santiago on May 29.

Campaigned by Maria Luisa Solari's Stud La Estrella, Pampa Oceanica was bred in Chile by Solari and her husband, Marcel Zarour. Pampa Oceanica is out of the Sadlers Congress (Ire) mare Pampa de La Sal and is a half sister to stakes-placed winner Sachini.
