Sunday Silence’s son Agnes Tachyon, Japan’s leading sire in 2008, died on Monday from a heart attack at Shadai Stallion Station on the island of Hokkaido. He was 11.
"I am shocked into silence because his death has come so suddenly," Shadai owner Teruya Yoshida said, according to Daily Racing Form.
From his first four crops of runners, Agnes Tachyon sired Daiwa Secret, Japan’s champion three-year-old filly of 2007; Deep Sky, the Tokyo Yushun (Japanese Derby) winner and champion three-year-old male of ’08; Little Amapola, winner of the Queen Elizabeth II Commemorative Cup (Jpn-G1) and champion three-year-old filly of ’08; and Captain Thule, winner of the ’08 Satsuki Sho (Japanese Two Thousand Guineas). His progeny earned $81,232,617 through Monday.
Undefeated in four career starts, Agnes Tachyon ended his career with a victory in the 2001 Satsuki Sho for owner Takao Watanabe and trainer Hiroyuki Nagahama. He was a full brother to 2000 Japanese Derby winner Agnes Flight.
Shadai Farm bred Agnes Tachyon out of 1990 Oka Sho (Japanese One Thousand Guineas) winner Agnes Flora, by Royal Ski.
