Argentine classic winner Interaction split horses in the stretch and charged to a three-length victory in the $342,451 Gran Premio Internacional Carlos Pellegrini (Arg-G1), South America's signature race, on Saturday at Hipodromo San Isidro in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Under a masterful ride from Edwin Talaverano, the three-year-old Easing Along colt split powered through the lane and drew clear late to deny defending winner Life of Victory, Argentina’s 2008 Horse of the Year, the opportunity to capture the race for a second straight year.

Grande Premio Brasil (Brz-G1) winner Jeune-Turc finished a close third, one-length clear of Peruvian classic-placed winner Bradock.

Fresh off a come-from-behind victory in the Gran Premio Jockey Club (Arg-G1), the second leg of Argentina's Triple Crown, Interaction registered his third Group 1 win on the turf and his fifth victory overall from nine career starts for Chilean owner-breeder Jorge Cardemil’s Haras Futuro.

Trained by Alfredo Gaitan Dassie, Interaction covered 2,400 meters (11.93 furlongs) in 2.23.19 on turf rated firm.

Winner of the Gran Premio Raul y Raul E. Chevalier (Arg-G1) at San Isidro during his juvenile season, Interaction is out of the Ride the Rails mare Inter Rails.

Talaverano, a former leading rider in Peru and winner of three previous editions of the Carlos Pellegrini during the 1990s, scored a Group 1 trifecta on the day as he also won the $69,378 Gran Premio Joaquin S. de Anchorena (Arg-G1) aboard Maruco Plus and the $40,810 Gran Premio Felix de Alzaga Unzue (Arg-G1) aboard Lloron Cat.
