Godolphin Seven Stars competition commences

The Godolphin Seven Stars competition opened for entries on Saturday.

The contest is free to enter and challenges competitors to select 14 Godolphin horses from designated groups, with seven horses active at any one time and eligible to record points based on racing results.

The Godolphin Seven Stars offers a first prize of $50,000 and a luxury vacation for two to the 2009 Emirates Airline Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1). Second prize is $25,000 and the third-place finisher will receive $15,000. The contest also offers four individual challenge prizes of $7,000.

Entrants are permitted to swap horses within their 14-horse team during three designated “Swap Windows” during the competition. Each of the seven active horses earn points based on performance beginning March 29 for the Dubai World Cup card and the contest runs through December 14. Points are accumulated throughout the entire season.

The “Swap Windows” are May 25 through May 31, July 25 through July 31, and September 24 through September 30.

Challenge stages also offer competitors the opportunity to win prizes for performance during a specific time period. The stages are March 29 through March 31, June 1 through July 31, August 1 through September 30, and October 1 through December 14.

Only one entry per person will be accepted and in the event of a tie, the entry received first will win the contest.

Interested parties with limited racing knowledge can enter the contest using a Lucky Dip entry in which the computer selects the 14 Godolphin horses.

Last year, the contest received entries from more than 150 countries.
