Faraqueen rebounds in Clasico Enrique Ayulo Pardo

Haras Rancho Fatima homebred filly Faraqueen, fifth in last month's Clasico Polla de Potrancas (Per-G1) (Peruvian One Thousand Guineas), returned with a vengeance Sunday to post a convincing win in the Clasico Enrique Ayulo Pardo (Per-G1) at Hipodromo de Monterrico.

Ridden by Jose Monteza, who annexed his first classic victory, Faraqueen closed wide in the stretch in the second leg of the Peruvian Quadruple Crown for fillies to score a crowning 4 1/2-length victory and stamp herself as one of Peru’s top three-year-old fillies on dirt.

Stakes winner Yes Cheli Yes finished second, 1 3/4 lengths clear of Guineas winner Betania in the eight-horse field.

Trained by Juan Suarez, Faraqueen covered 2,000 meters (9.94 furlongs) on dirt in 2:11 for her first Group 1 victory and third career win in five starts for international owner-breeder Jaime Rizo Patron’s Haras Rancho Fatima, owner of Pinecrest Stable in Ocala.

A gray filly by Farallon P., Faraqueen is out of the unraced Berry’s Noble mare Noble Queen, dam of multiple Group 2 winner Forero. Faraqueen hails from the immediate family of multiple Peruvian champion Portadora.
