Gallic, who has battled a multitude of problems from a broken pelvis to a tendon injury, won the $687,308 ($825,000 Australian) Schweppes Sydney Cup (Aus-G1) by a neck at Royal Randwick on Saturday.

Ridden by Steven Arnold, Gallic prevailed in 3:27.30 on turf rated dead.
Runner-up Irazu edged third-place finisher No Wine No Song by a head.
