TVG expands programming to United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia
Television Games Network has reached an agreement with Dubai Sports Channel that will make American racing available in more than eight-million homes across the Arabian Peninsula.
Under terms of the agreement, TVG will simulcast racing coverage and selected programming to Dubai Sports Channel, which is distributed to approximately 1.5-million homes in the United Arab Emirates and seven-million homes throughout other markets in the region, including Saudi Arabia.
“It is exciting for Dubai Sports Channel to be associated with TVG as it enables more comprehensive coverage of U.S. Thoroughbred horseracing to reach a larger audience in the Middle East, especially in Dubai, where there is a significant interest in the sport,” Ahmed Al Shaikh, Dubai Media Inc.’s managing director, said.
TVG now has a potential reach of approximately 20-millions homes outside the United States, including 11-million homes the network can be seen on in the United Kingdom and Ireland through a partnership with At The Races. TVG is also distributed to 26-million homes in the U.S. and is available across the country through regional sports networks under the Fox Sports Net banner.
“Our relationship with Dubai Sports Channel will greatly benefit U.S. breeders and horsemen by providing widespread exposure for them in the Middle East,” David Nathanson, TVG’s general manager, said. “Dubai in particular is widely recognized as home to some of Thoroughbred racing’s most prominent owners and breeders who greatly impact horseracing in the world.”
