Godolphin Racing has purchased Literato, France’s top three-year-old colt of 2007.

Herve Morin, France’s minister of defense, owned the Kendor colt out of La Cibeles, by Cardoun (Fr).

Literato notched his first Group 1 win in the Emirates Airline Champion Stakes (Eng-G1) on October 20 at Newmarket, after previous group victories in the Prix la Force (Fr-G3), Prix Guillame d’Ornano (Fr-G2), and Prix du Prince d’Orange (Fr-G3). He has never finished worse than second in 11 career starts.

Simon Crisford, Godolphin’s racing manager, told Racing Post that Literato would be considered for the Dubai World Cup (UAE-G1) and races in the Far East in the spring, which would conceivably be the Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup (HK-G1) on April 27 at Sha Tin racecourse and Singapore Airlines International Cup (Sin-G1) on May 17 at Kranji racecourse.

The World Cup also is a possible target for Godolphin’s Hong Kong Cup (HK-G1) winner Ramonti.
