Construction on the third phase of the renovation of the Hipodromo de las Americas racetrack and surrounding property in Mexico City is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2002 and will include a 400-room hotel to complement the track and convention center

Corporacion Interamericana de Entretenimiento will begin accepting bids for the project in January. The convention center is slated to open February 13.

Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas has served as a consultant to Hipodromo de las Americas, which offers both Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing.
