Edited press release
Pfizer Animal Health stands behind its trusted line of vaccines with the Equine Immunization Support Guarantee, a program that provides up to $5,000 for reasonable diagnostic and treatment costs if a properly vaccinated horse contracts the corresponding equine disease. To be eligible for the program, vaccines must be obtained and vaccinations administered by a licensed veterinarian.
Veterinarians are an essential resource to help horse owners develop the most complete vaccination program based on geographic location, how often horses travel to shows or other events and other factors that affect disease risk. Disease protection backed by the Equine Immunization Support Guarantee includes infection from West Nile virus, equine influenza virus, tetanus, eastern equine encephalitis virus, western equine encephalitis virus and Venezuelan encephalitis virus. Vaccines must be obtained and vaccinations performed by a licensed veterinarian with an established client-patient relationship.
“With the rise in cases of West Nile virus and eastern equine encephalitis virus last year, it is critically important that horse owners consult with their veterinarians on a sound vaccination regimen based on the risks in their area,” said Tom Lenz, DVM, MS, Diplomate ACT and Senior Director, Equine Veterinary Services for Pfizer Animal Health. “The Equine Immunization Support Guarantee offers additional peace of mind to horse owners looking to help provide the best possible disease protection for their horses.”
Pfizer Animal Health offers a complete line of vaccines for protection from common equine diseases, including WEST NILE-INNOVATOR®, to help protect against West Nile virus and FLUVAC INNOVATOR®, to help protect against equine influenza virus. In addition, the Mosquito Shot ™ (WEST NILE-INNOVATOR® + EWT) helps protect against eastern equine encephalitis virus, western equine encephalitis virus, tetanus and West Nile virus in a single vaccine. These products and combinations are included in the Equine Immunization Support Guarantee.
“Properly administered vaccines help reduce the risk of infection, so we encourage horse owners to work with their veterinarian to formulate a complete vaccination program,” said Stuart Meikle, Marketing Director, Pfizer Animal Health. “The Equine Immunization Support Guarantee program is an opportunity for horse owners to discuss their concerns with their veterinarian and ultimately help provide the best possible health care to their horses.”
