Assistant Editor

Thoroughbred Times is seeking an Assistant Editor to join its editorial team. This person will primarily be responsible for assisting our Editors in writing and editing stories for our daily publication the Thoroughbred Times TODAY, as well as helping oversee the successful production of each. Working Hours: varies, but typically 10-7 or 12-9 including many weekends and holidays.

The ideal candidate will meet the following background requirements:

• BA in English, journalism or related field.
• Excellent communication skills (both written and spoken).
• Knowledge of, or experience with, all aspects of the Thoroughbred industry required.
• 2-5 years of writing, editing, researching, and interviewing experience also required.

Display Advertising Sales Representative

Horse Illustrated Magazine, a national, all–breed, all discipline magazine is seeking a Display Advertising Sales Representative in our Lexington, Ky., office. We require a proven sales track record, a stable work history and a strong desire to succeed. Advertising Account Executive

Thoroughbred Times is seeking a highly motivated Advertising Account Executive to join its sales team. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of outside sales experience (preferably in a publishing environment) with a proven ability to both create and maintain profitable relationships with new and existing clients. Minimum travel requirement is 25-50%. Knowledge of the Thoroughbred industry is a plus, as well as the desire to stay abreast of industry news. Advertising Account Executive must also be able to flourish in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment.

Stallion Directory Editor
Thoroughbred Times is seeking a Stallion Directory Editor to join its research team. The primary duties of the Stallion Directory Editor duties include, but are not limited to:
• Track and enter stallion farm data and fees.
• Generate, edit, and finalize all Stallion Directory pages for annual print edition.
• Generate, edit, and finalize all Stallion Directory pages for online edition.
• Oversee production of all photo pages for the Stallion Directory, in print and online.
• Hire temporary personnel for Stallion Directory. (Seasonal)
• Produce a weekly stud notes chart for the magazine.
• Enter the Stallion Directory contracts and distribute copies within the office.
Minimum Requirements:
• High School or Equivalent: some college preferred
• Computer knowledge including Word, Excel, etc.
• Knowledge of Thoroughbred industry and pedigrees required.
• The ideal candidate will have a background in research, and ideally, also have experience with stallion pages.
