After previously announcing that 2008 champion sprinter Benny the Bull would relocate to Vinery in Lexington in 2012, owner Greg James will stand the nine-year-old by Lucky Lionel at Vinery in Summerfield, Florida for the 2012 breeding season.

Benny the Bull has been standing at Vinery’s Florida division since his retirement in 2010. His stud fee will be $2,000 live foal.

Benny the Bull won the Eclipse Award as champion sprinter in 2008 when he went undefeated, winning the Gulf News Dubai Golden Shaheen (UAE-G1), the True North Handicap (G2), the Smile Sprint Handicap (G2), and the Sunshine Millions Sprint Stakes. Overall, he won or placed in 14 of 20 starts and earned $2,353,430.

At the recently concluded Keeneland January mixed sale, Benny the Bull had the fourth-highest yearling average among freshman sires and led yearling sires by average on day three of the sale.

“I’ll continue to be a very strong supporter of Benny as I have been his first two seasons at stud,” James said. “His Keeneland January yearlings are evidence that he is siring correct, athletic-looking individuals.”
