Rubiyat moves to Oklahoma

RUBIYAT

RUBIYAT

Multiple Grade 2-placed winner Rubiyat has been relocated to David Spears Racing in Hartshorne, Oklahoma, for the 2012 breeding season. He will stand for a fee of $1,000, with special consideration to approved mares.

The son of champion sprinter Rubiano out of multiple stakes producer Blushing Madame, by Blushing Groom (Fr), has sired the earners of more than $1-million to date, including multiple stakes-placed winner Rubi Echo, stakes-placed Khayyam, and Aqueduct allowance winner One Tough Dude.

In the spring of his three-year-old season, Rubiyat put together back-to-back runner up efforts in the Withers (G2) and Peter Pan (G2) Stakes for Racing Hall of Fame trainer Scotty Schulhofer. Rubiyat finished first or second in all six of his career starts.

"Rubiyat is a physically awesome specimen with a stellar pedigree,” Spears said. “He's by the fastest-ever son of the great Fappiano, and he's got more than 50 black-type horses under his first four dams. What makes his progeny earnings even more impressive is that he's only had 63 named foals through his 2009 crop.

"We recognize the stallion business can be a numbers game," added Spears. "And we're willing to be flexible on stud fee for quality Oklahoma-foaling mares."

Rubiyat previously stood at Fox Tale Stud in Pennsylvania.

The deal was brokered by New Jersey-based bloodstock agent Michael Slezak.
