Victor Man showed early speed on the inside and drew clear to a 7 ¼-length victory in his career debut in a six-furlong maiden special weight race for Alberta-breds on Monday at Northlands Park to become the first winner for stakes-placed winner and freshman sire Run to Victory.
Trained by Pam McDougall for Lomar Stables, the dark bay or brown colt covered the distance in 1:13.00 on a track rated fast.
Run to Victory placed in four stakes races during his six-year-racing career, his best coming with a runner-up finish in the 2004 Sussex Handicap at Delaware Park. Overall, he won seven of 26 starts with three seconds and four thirds and earned $258,236.
The 11-year-old Gilded Time horse out of Victorious Lil, by Vice Regent, stands at Bar None Ranches in Dewinton, Alberta, for an undisclosed fee. He has six foals of racing age from his first crop. He is a half brother to the champion classic winner and sire Victory Gallop.
