Anasheed sold to stand in Russia

Posted: Wednesday, March 10, 2010 2:17 PM

Anasheed, a ten-year-old A.P. Indy horse out of European highweight Flagbird, by Nureyev, has been sold by the New York-based Anasheed Syndicate. Anasheed will stand in Russia.

Anasheed is the sire of 14 winners, including multiple stakes winner Garter Belt, from 68 foals among three crops of racing age.

“Anasheed is by A.P. Indy out of the champion mare Flagbird and he has more than 22 stakes horses under the first two dams, said Michael Lischin, who brokered the sale. “The Russian market puts a heavy emphasis on world class pedigrees. We have found great demand there for this type of stallion and for that matter for similarly bred mares. The export process to Russia is somewhat complex but for the right horse it is worth it.”
