B. Wayne Hughes has purchased Arkansas Derby (G1) winner Line of David to stand at his Spendthrift Farm in Lexington.

The three-year-old Lion Heart colt out of Emma’s Dilemma, by Capote, has been retired, Daily Racing Form reported.

Line of David led at every call and scored by a neck in the Arkansas Derby over eventual Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) winner Super Saver (video). Line of David finished 18th in the Kentucky Derby for trainer John Sadler and owners Dawn and Ike Thrash.

“He’s got a couple of minor injuries,” Hughes told the Form. “He’s a Grade 1 winner, winning the Arkansas Derby and beating the eventual [Kentucky] Derby winner. He has unbelievable speed. He’s an exceptionally good-looking horse.”

A stud fee has not been determined for Line of David, who was bred in Florida by Sabine Stable. His half sister, the four-year-old Victory Gallop filly McVictory, recently finished second in the Monmouth Beach Stakes at Monmouth Park.

Tough to say...His sire (Lion Heart) was an exceptionally good horse! I mean look who owned him and now stands him, that telss you something there. But, Line of David is 1st crop and there isn't much known on the progeny of Lion Heart. I hope the best of luck for Line of David as a stallion and the connections involved. I will say he has the looks and he's a grade 1 winner...2 pros in his favor! All the best!

Line of David may be a nice horse, but there is no stamina in the pedigree until you get to his 3rd Dam!!...Unless you are breeding for sprinters, this horse will probably never throw a 1 1/4 mile horse. He has an intersting pedigree in that Mr. Prospector and his 3/4 sister appear 4x2. If you can find a Search for Gold mare, you would have 3 full siblings within 5 generations. Best of luck to Line Of David getting any kind of mares with quality. Cause he is gonna need it.
