Anne’s Beauty first winner for Artie Schiller

Posted: Friday, August 27, 2010 4:03 PM

Anne’s Beauty closed with a rush to win the second race at Woodbine on Friday in her second career start to become the first winner for Central Kentucky-based freshman sire Artie Schiller.

Trained by Paul Attard for owner Robert Smithen, the two-year-old filly covered 6½ furlongs on the synthetic Polytrack surface in 1:18.80 to win by 2¼ lengths. Anne’s Beauty is one of two winners from as many starters out of the Sea Wall mare Lucky Streak.

A nine-year-old by El Prado (Ire) out of multiple Grade 1 winner Hidden Light, by Majestic Light, Artie Schiller stood the 2010 season for $15,000 at Pauls Mill in Versailles, Kentucky. He has 173 two-year-olds in his first crop.

Winner of the 2005 NetJets Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1), Artie Schiller posted ten victories, five seconds, and three thirds from 22 career starts and earned $2,088,853 in four racing seasons. In addition to his three-quarter-length victory over Leroidesanimaux (Brz) in the ’05 Mile, Artie Schiller won four Grade 2 races and a Grade 3 race.
