Victoria Drive first winner for Seize the Day

Posted: Saturday, August 21, 2010 9:26 PM

Victoria Drive made her bid four wide in the stretch to win the third race on Saturday at Mountaineer Race Track, becoming the first winner for Grade 3-placed winner and freshman sire Seize the Day.

The dark bay or brown filly completed the six-furlong maiden special weight race in 1:13.89 for trainer Kenneth Burns. She is one of four winners from five starters out of the winning Pillager mare Carriage Drive.

Seize the Day, by Montbrook, won one of five starts and finished third in the 2004 Hollywood Prevue Stakes (G3) in three seasons of racing. A half brother to multiple stakes winner Oilgonewile out of the winning World Appeal mare Dignified Woman, he is represented by three two-year-olds in his first crop. Victoria Drive is his first starter.

I want everyone to know...please.....Listen up....So many TB's are discarded when their time has gone. I have two of them. If I could I'd take them all in. How many thousands of TB's are discarded each year is unreal! My two have developed such wonderful personalites since they have been here....less than a year. They are wonderful family pets, yes they follow us around....if you let them yet at the same time they can become great performance horses if you want them to be. I know. They are so versatile. Just apply what you know and expect such and the horse will follow and give you even more! Please adopt TB's... Friends of Ferdinand...http://www.friendsofferdinand.org/new/
good site to go and hopefully get horses. This is where I got my two....track listings from a trainer. Love them, do not regret them. Please consider. So many horses each year need help or they go to slaughter, yes United States horses too go even though it is against the law. Shameful. These precious horses that give us pleasure to go through the terrible, horrifiying things. Unreal! Read this........The name “Friends of Ferdinand” is in recognition of a Thoroughbred named Ferdinand who, in 1986, raced to victory at the historical and prestigious Kentucky Derby. One year later, Ferdinand won the Breeder's Cup and was also named Horse of the Year. He captivated the American Public and rekindled the dreams of horse racing internationally. As a racehorse, Ferdinand won eight of 29 starts and earned $3,777,978, retiring as what was then the fifth leading money winner of all time. In 1989 he was retired from racing and sent to stud at Claiborne Farms near Paris, KY. Unfortunately, his foals did not perform well on the track and in 1994, he was exported to Japan for use as a stud in their developing thoroughbred racing program. Still, his offspring did not perform at the track and in 2002, this king of Thoroughbred racing was led to slaughter for human consumption. Why do we let this go on? They deserve better....loving families, so many out there that do not know how to get them....it needs to be make known!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Please.
