Charlie Bull first winner for Philanthropist

Charlie Bull drove to a half-length victory in the fifth race at Woodbine on Friday to become the first career winner for Ontario-based freshman sire Philanthropist.

Hard Eight Stables’ and Ace Racing Stable’s homebred dark bay or brown gelding covered the distance in 1:11.80 under jockey Gerry Olguin. Out of the winning Tethra mare Cosa Rara, Charlie Bull is a half brother to stakes winners Cawaja Beach and Who’s Big Daddy.

Philanthropist won six of 18 starts during four racing seasons, including the 2005 Queens County Handicap (G3) at Aqueduct, and earned $266,430. He stood for approximately $3,338 ($3,500 Canadian) at Gardiner Farms Ltd. in Caledon, Ontario..

The nine-year-old by Kris. S out of the Mr. Prospector mare Hidden Reserve has 34 two-year-olds in his first crop.
