Second-crop sire Tropical Storm, by Storm Cat, will relocate to Alfred H. Nuckols Jr.’s Hurstland Farm in Midway, Kentucky, for the 2010 season.
Tropical Storm is a winner out of the Grade 1-winning Carson City mare Pearl City, who is a half sister to deceased sire and Grade 1 winner Hennessy, by Storm Cat.
Bred and raced by Overbrook Farm, Tropical Storm stood the previous three seasons at Walmac Farm in Lexington. Hurstland has not yet announced a stud fee for 2010.
Tropical Storm has sired seven winners from 12 starters, including two-year-old colt Little Bud Bud, who set a Golden Gate Fields track record by completing two furlongs in :21.50.
“Tropical Storm is one of the best bred sons of Storm Cat standing in Kentucky,” Nuckols said. “Being from Hennessy’s family, and out of one of Carson City’s top runners, it’s no wonder that his foals are performing on the racetrack. He has 58 stakes horses in his first three dams. His pedigree and ability to sire runners are the hallmarks of a top-flight sire and hallmarks which Storm Cat himself possessed at the same age.”
