Adena moving Florida stallions to Kentucky, Ontario

Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs will relocate its Florida stallions to Kentucky and Ontario for the 2010 season.
Adena Springs is moving Alphabet Soup, Milwaukee Brew, and Olmodavor from Adena Springs South in Williston, Florida, to Gardiner Farms in Caledon, Ontario. They will join Silent Name (Jpn) and Sligo Bay (Ire), who previously stood for Adena Springs in America until moving to Gardiner Farms last year.
Stronach’s multiple graded stakes winner Giant Gizmo also will enter stud at Gardiner Farms, in the venture with Gardiner General Manager Michael Colterjohn, D.V.M.
Red Bullet, Showing Up, and Wilko will join the Adena Springs Kentucky roster in Paris, along with newcomer Singing Saint.
Stud fees have not been announced.
Stronach cited the lucrative incentive program available for Ontario-breds in the decision to become more involved in the province’s stallion market. The Stronach family has a farm and training center at Adena Springs North in Aurora, Ontario, and a large string of horses in training at Woodbine.
Stronach Stables and Adena Springs combined to sweep the Eclipse Awards as outstanding owner and outstanding breeder in 2008.
“Last year, we moved Sligo Bay and Silent Name to Canada, and we were very pleased with the results,” Stronach said. “Sligo Bay is the leading third crop sire in Canada, and Silent Name has been very popular with Ontario breeders. We are very optimistic about the future of racing in Ontario and we are going to take advantage of the incentives offered by that program.
“The decision to move the Adena South stallions to Canada and Kentucky was not an easy one,” Stronach continued. “We will continue to aggressively pursue stallion prospects that fit our program, and will not hesitate to put our Florida facilities to use again for the right stallion or stallions in the future. Our goal is to remain North America’s leading breeder, and we feel that we will be able to best accomplish that goal at this time by strengthening our position in Kentucky and adding to our emerging roster in Canada.”
Stronach said homebred weanlings and yearlings will continue to be raised at Adena Springs South, which was founded in 1996 and has grown to 3,800 acres.
“Our facilities and personnel in Williston, Florida, are second to none,” Stronach said. “We will also continue to open our facility to boarders for breaking and training so that our customers can enjoy the Adena advantage that comes from our first-class facilities and people. Adena Springs South is, and will remain, a key part of our overall program.”
Giant Gizmo will stand his first season at Gardiner Farms after winning the 2008 Alysheba Stakes (G3) and Lone Star Park Handicap (G3). The homebred Giant’s Causeway horse is out of multiple stakes winner Golden Antigua, by Hansel.
Singing Saint will succeed his late sire, El Prado (Ire), at Adena Springs Kentucky. Out of multiple graded stakes winner Relaxing Rhythm, by Easy Goer, Singing Saint won both of his two career starts. He is a half brother to Stronach’s Grade 2 winner Spring Waltz, by Silver Charm.
