Walmac reduces fees for seven
returning Central Ky. sires

Posted: Monday, November 30, 2009 4:26 PM

Walmac Farm has reduced the stud fees for all seven of its returning Central Kentucky stallions for 2010.

The fee for 2004 leading freshman sire Successful Appeal was reduced from $22,500 last year to $17,500. The 13-year-old by Valid Appeal is the sire of 27 stakes winners and nine graded stakes winners from six crops of racing age, including 2005 Kentucky Derby (G1) runner-up Closing Argument.

“Successful Appeal continues to add to his exceptional and versatile siring record,” Walmac Managing Director John T.L. Jones III said. “This year, he is the sire of nine stakes winners here and abroad, including individual graded stakes winners at eight furlongs, nine furlongs, and 12 furlongs. He also sired two Breeders’ Cup contenders, and was covering sire on a $700,000 Keeneland November [breeding stock sale] mare. He offers both quality and value, and we feel that he is well positioned at this fee.”

Grade 1 winner Boboman, by Kingmambo, will stand his first season at stud for $5,000.
