Congresionalaffair first winner for Congressionalhonor

Posted: Wednesday, November 18, 2009 6:01 PM

Schelford North’s Congresionalaffair made a late rally in the final sixteenth of a mile to win the second race at Laurel Park on Wednesday and become the first career winner for freshman sire Congressionalhonor.

The two-year-old gray or roan filly, trained by Edmond Gaudet, covered the 5½-furlong maiden claiming race in 1:06.54 on a track rated fast. She is one of two winners from as many starters out of the winning Sultry Song mare Sultry Rendevous.

Congressionalhonor, who will stand the 2010 season for $3,000 at Northview Stallion Station in Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania, won the 2004 Bay Meadows Derby (G3) and amassed $112,413 in earnings in two seasons on the track.

The eight-year-old by Forestry out of the Quiet American mare Quiet Dance has 40 two-year-olds in his first crop.
