Multiple graded stakes winner and sire Repent will move from Vinery Kentucky to Empire Stud in Hudson, New York, and stand the 2010 breeding season for $5,000.
The ten-year-old Louis Quatorze horse, who has sired eight stakes winners in three crops of racing age, won five of his ten starts over two racing seasons, including the 2001 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) at Churchill Downs and the ‘02 Louisiana Derby (G2) at Fair Grounds, and earned $1,225,660.
He stood at CloverLeaf Farms II for his first four seasons before spending the previous two at Vinery. He will stand at Empire on behalf of CloverLeaf farms.
Repent has sired 93 winners, including Grade 2 winner Crown of Thorns and Grade 3 winner Atoned, from 158 starters who have earned $6,056,201.
“Repent offers tremendous proven speed and great looks at an affordable $5,000 price,” Empire President Jamie LaMonica said. “With his best book of mares yet to hit the track, he is a very exciting addition to our roster.”
