Vinery reduces fees for eight of ten returning stallions

Vinery Ltd. reduced the stud fees for eight of its ten returning stallions for 2010.

Prominent dual hemisphere sire More Than Ready was among those whose fee has been reduced. The Grade 1-winning 12-year-old by Southern Halo out of the Woodman mare Woodman’s Girl will stand for $30,000 after standing last year for $45,000.

Vinery raised the fee for third-crop sire D’wildcat from $6,500 last year to $10,000. The 11-year-old Grade 1 winner by Forest Wildcat out of winner D’Enough, by D’Accord, stands at Vinery Florida in Summerfield. He is the sire of 2009 multiple Grade 2 winning juvenile D’ Funnybone as well as multiple stakes winners Authenicat and D’wild Ride.

New to Vinery this year are multiple Grade 1 winner and 2009 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) runner-up Pioneerof the Nile, multiple Grade 1 winner and Canadian champion Kodiak Kowboy, Grade 1-placed winner Maimonides, and Cactus Ridge, a third-crop sire who stood at Walmac Farm in 2009.

Santa Anita Derby (G1) winner Pioneerof the Nile will stand for $20,000 at Vinery Kentucky. The three-year-old by Empire Maker is out of the stakes-winning Lord At War (Arg) mare Star of Goshen.

Vosburgh Stakes (G1) and Carter Handicap (G1) winner Kodiak Kowboy, Canada’s champion two-year-old male of 2007, will stand for $12,500 at Vinery Kentucky. The four-year-old by Posse is out of the Coronado’s Quest mare Kokadrie.

Maimonides, the 2007 Hopeful Stakes (G1) third-place finisher, will stand for $3,500 at Vinery Florida. A $4.6-million purchase at the 2006 Keeneland September yearling sale, the Vindication colt is out of the Silver Deputy mare Silvery Swan, dam of Grade 1 winners and sires Roman Ruler and El Corredor.

Cactus Ridge, sire of Grade 1 winner Hot Cha Cha among seven stakes winners, will stand for $7,500. The eight-year-old by Hennessy is out of Grade 1-placed winner Double Park (Fr), by Lycius.
