Darby Dan reduces fee for Nobiz Like Shobiz

Darby Dan Farm has reduced the 2010 fee for Grade 1 winner Nobiz Like Shobiz from $7,500 to $2,500.
“The decision was made after talking with many breeders,” owner Elizabeth Valando said. “The stallion market has been hit hardest at $10,000 and under, so I wanted to be extremely sensitive to their needs. I feel like at $2,500, Nobiz Like Shobiz offers breeders a real value, while also giving him the best chance to succeed at stud.”
A Valando homebred by Albert the Great out of the winning Storm Cat mare Nightstorm, Nobiz Like Shobiz won seven of 13 starts, including six graded stakes races in two seasons on the track. He won five of ten starts as a three-year-old, including the Wood Memorial Stakes (G1) and the Jamaica Handicap (G2).
The stud fees for Darby Dan’s other stallions, including Magna Graduate, Perfect Soul (Ire), Repriced, Run Away and Hide, Suave, and Sun King remain unchanged for 2010.
New to Darby Dan’s roster for 2010 is two-time Grade 1 winner Tale of Ekati, who will stand for $15,000 in his initial season at stud.
The four-year-old Tale of the Cat colt out of the placed Sunday Silence mare Silence Beauty (Jpn), won three of eight starts as a three-year-old, including the 2008 Wood Memorial Stakes (G1) and Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile Handicap (G1).
The prices for Tale of Ekati, Perfect Soul, and Nobiz Like Shobiz are all stands and nurse.
