Adena Springs reduces fees
for Awesome Again, Ghostzapper

Posted: Monday, November 09, 2009 4:22 PM

Frank Stronach’s Adena Springs released its 2010 stud fees on Monday, and the six-time Eclipse Award winner as outstanding breeder reduced the fees for both Awesome Again and Ghostzapper from $125,000 last year to $50,000 in 2010.

Awesome Again won the 1998 Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), and his son Ghostzapper duplicated the feat in 2004 en route to Eclipse Awards as Horse of the Year and champion older male.

Awesome Again, a half brother to 2000 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1) winner and Adena stallion Macho Uno, has sired 264 winners, including 35 stakes winners, from 380 starters that have earned $40,956,280 from eight crops of racing age. Out of the Blushing Groom (Fr) mare Primal Force, Awesome Again also is the sire of 2007 champion older female and Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) winner Ginger Punch.

Ghostzapper’s first foals are two-year-olds of 2009. A half brother to Grade 1 winner and sire City Zip, he is out of the stakes-winning Relaunch mare Baby Zip, the 2005 Broodmare of the Year.

New to Adena Springs this season are Singing Saint and Giant Gizmo.

Singing Saint, a winning five-year-old by recently deceased Adena Springs sire El Prado (Ire), will stand at Adena Springs Kentucky for $5,000 in 2010. A half brother to Grade 2 winner Spring Waltz, Singing Saint is out of the Grade 2-winning Easy Goer mare Relaxing Rhythm.

Multiple Grade 3 winner Giant Gizmo will stand for $3,764 ($4,000 Canadian) at Dr. Michael Colterjohn’s Gardner Farms in Canada. A five-year-old by Giant’s Causeway, Giant Gizmo is out of multiple stakes winner Golden Antigua, by Hansel.

Adena Springs did not release stud fees for multiple Grade 1 winners Tiago and Einstein (Brz), both of whom will join the Adena roster in 2010.
