Rummy’s Command first winner for Deputy Rummy

Rummy’s Command won the second race at Mountaineer Race Track on Friday by 6¾ lengths and became the first winner for freshman sire Deputy Rummy.

Rummy’s Command was making his fourth career start in the $15,000 maiden claiming race. He covered 5½ furlongs in 1:07.52 on a track rated as fast.

Rummy’s Command was bred in West Virginia by owner Harold L. Shotwell, who stands Deputy Rummy at his Shotwell Farm in Charles Town, West Virginia. Rummy’s Command is out of the Unaccounted for mare Silent Hayley.

Deputy Rummy is an eight-year-old by French Deputy out of 1985 champion three-year-old filly and Racing Hall of Famer Mom’s Command. He is a half brother to multiple graded stakes winner Jonesboro.

Deputy Rummy won three of ten starts and earned $60,720. His advertised stud fee was $1,000 in 2009.
