Old State Line first winner for Dance With Ravens

Old State Line seized command early under Jenna Joubert and powered to a 1 1/2-length score as the 9-to-10 favorite in the opener at Penn National Race Course on Saturday night to become the first career winner for Maryland-based sire Dance With Ravens.

Trained by Dane Kobiskie for owner P.T.K. LLC, Old State Line completed the 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race in :53.65 on a track rated as fast. Out of the placed Miswaki mare Yankee Maid, Old State Line is a half brother to multiple stakes winner Yankee Wildcat.

A seven-year-old by A.P. Indy out of 1991 Canadian Horse of the Year Dance Smartly, Dance With Ravens stands for $6,000 at Northview Stallion Station in Chesapeake City, Maryland. A half brother to 2001 Canadian classic winner and champion three-year-old filly Dancethruthedawn and Canadian classic winner Scatter the Gold, Dance With Ravens has 83 two-year-olds in his first crop. He is from the family of leading sire Smart Strike, multiple Canadian champion and sire Sky Classic, and Canadian champion and sire Regal Classic.

Dance With Ravens won three of seven career starts, including the 2004 Grey Breeders’ Cup Stakes (Can-G2) and ’05 Plate Trial Stakes, and amassed $340,600 in purse earnings.
