Candy Ride to stand at Lane’s End in 2010

by Ed DeRosa

Candy Ride (Arg), the sire of seven stakes winners from his first crop of racing age including recent Swaps Stakes (G2) winner Misremembered, has relocated to William S. Farish’s Lane’s End after standing his first five seasons at John G. Sikura’s Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms.

Candy Ride retired to Hill ‘n’ Dale following the 2003 season in which the Ride the Rails horse won graded stakes on both turf and dirt, including the 1 1/4 Pacific Classic Stakes (G1) in 1:59.11, a record on the Del Mar main track at the time.

In addition to Misremembered, Candy Ride’s first crop includes El Camino Real Derby (G3) and dual classic starter Chocolate Candy as well as Evita Argentina, a two-time Grade 2 winner this year, and Capt. Candyman Can, a three-time graded stakes winner at as many tracks.

Lane’s End did not release a stud fee for the ten-year-old stallion out of Candy Girl, by Candy Stripes. He stood the past four seasons for an advertised fee of $12,500 after standing his initial season in 2005 for an advertised fee of $10,000.

Candy Ride’s first crop includes 123 foals with 49 winners from 87 starters who earned $3,803,216 through Sunday. His second crop has 93 foals.
