Paulson pensions Jade Hunter to Old Friends

Jade Hunter, a multiple Grade 1 winner who sired 2002 Horse of the Year Azeri, has been pensioned to Old Friends in Georgetown, Kentucky.
The 25-year-old Mr. Prospector stallion out of Jadana, by Pharly, stood in New York the last three seasons for Questroyal Stud. His advertised fee was $5,000 in 2009. He previously stood for Allen Paulson and the Allen Paulson Living Trust at Brookside Farm in Versailles, Kentucky, and later at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms in Lexington.
The Allen Paulson Living Trust donated Jade Hunter to Old Friends.

Jade Hunter ranked 25th on the general sire list in 2002 when Azeri garnered Horse of the Year honors and the first of her three Eclipse Awards as champion older female. Paulson’s homebred mare out of Zodiac Miss, by Ahonoora, retired with 11 Grade 1 victories and the top spot on the North American female earnings list with a bankroll of $4,079,820.
Paulson also bred and raced Jade Hunter’s sons Yagli, a three-time Grade 1 winner and runner-up in the 1998 Breeders’ Cup Turf (G1), and Stuka, who won the 1994 Santa Anita Handicap (G1) and was Chile’s leading sire in 2007.
Other graded stakes winners by Jade Hunter include Illinois sire Diazo; 1998 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G2) winner Halory Hunter; and Texas sire Midway Road.
Jade Hunter has sired 46 stakes winners among 509 winners from 709 starters who earned $40,410,781 through Tuesday.
Trained by Richard Lundy, Jade Hunter won the Donn Handicap (G1) and Gulfstream Park Handicap (G1) in the final two races of his career. He won six of 14 career starts and earned $407,260.
