Street Hero shuttles to Australia

Posted: Wednesday, July 01, 2009 1:41 PM

Street Hero, who stood his first season at Dr. Tom Simon’s Vinery in Lexington this year, will shuttle to Tony Santic’s Makybe in Victoria, Australia, for the upcoming Southern Hemisphere breeding season.

“Street Hero was a very talented racehorse, he’s an attractive individual and from a good family,” said Vinery General Manager Tom Ludt. “You add the international appeal of Street Cry (Ire) to the mix, and we think this could be a very good opportunity for this young stallion.”

Scott Holcombe, stud manager for Makybe, said the farm has purchased an interest in the Grade 1-winning son of Street Cry.

Rated fourth on the 2008 Experimental Free Handicap, Street Hero placed in all six career starts for breeder-owner-trainer Myung Kwon Cho. He won the Norfolk Stakes (G1) and finished third in the Del Mar Futurity (G1) and Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).

Three-year-old Street Hero is out of the graded stakes placed Summer Squall mare Squall Linda. His initial stud fee was $12,500.
