Peachtree Stable's record-setting Grade-1 winning millionaire Red Giant will begin his stud career in 2009 at Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms in Lexington for an advertised fee of $7,500.

The five-year-old Giant’s Causeway horse retired with six wins from 12 starts and earnings of $1,092,410. Red Giant won both of his races in 2008 – the Fourstardave Handicap (G2) at Saratoga Race Course and the Clement L. Hirsch Memorial Turf Championship Stakes (G1) at Santa Anita Park.

Red Giant set a world turf course record in the Clement Hirsch, running 1¼ miles in 1:57.16.

“By the fantastic sire Giant's Causeway, Red Giant hails from one of the most successful pedigrees in the stud book,” said John G. Sikura, president of Hill 'n' Dale. “There is no reason why he should not become an important sire.”

Red Giant was bred in Kentucky by Edward and Marilyn Seltzer. He is out of stakes-placed winner Beyond the Sun, by Kingmambo.

Red Giant also set a 1 ¼-mile course record at Colonial Downs when he won the 2007 Virginia Derby (G2) in 1:59.62.

“Red Giant was the fastest horse on the planet at a mile and a quarter, and that is indisputable,” said trainer Todd Pletcher.  “He has all the qualities you would want in a racehorse and a sire.”

Peachtree’s John P. Fort purchased Red Giant for $350,000 at the 2005 Keeneland September yearling sale.
