Bold Executive tops Ontario stallion award winners

Leading Canadian sire Bold Executive was the top stallion awards earner for 2008 in a program sponsored by the Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society's Ontario division.
Bold Executive’s progeny compiled $4,373,652 in purse earnings in 2008. The Bold Ruckus stallion was awarded $50,000, which will be paid to the stallion owner or syndicate manager through the Thoroughbred Improvement Program.
A total of $400,000 was distributed for the 2008 Stallion Awards Program, with $150,000 paid out at the end of the year to top sires based on North American earnings.
Trajectory finished second with $2,971,744 in 2008 progeny earnings and received $30,000. Bold n’ Flashy was third with $1,534,992 in progeny earnings and was awarded $20,000.
The remaining $250,000 is distributed on a points-earned basis. The points are derived from races ranging from allowance- to stakes-level events run in Ontario and graded or group stakes run worldwide.
Bold Executive sired 68 winners from 138 starters in 2008, including six stakes winners. His top progeny last year included multiple stakes winners Legal Move and Sand Cove.
Bold Executive and Trajectory stand at Gardiner Farms Ltd. in Caledon, Ontario.
A Gone West stallion, Trajectory concluded his previous season with 50 winners from 91 starters, including seven stakes winners. Trajectory’s top progeny for 2008 included multiple stakes winners Dancer’s Bajan and Mean Green.
Bold n’ Flashy sired 42 winners from 83 starters last year. Also by Bold Ruckus, Bold n’ Flashy stands at T.C. Westmeath Stud in Shelburne, Ontario.
The leading first-crop sire was Tomahawk, whose progeny earned $584,390 last year. A Seattle Slew stallion who stands at Firestone Farms in Caledon, Ontario, Tomahawk sired ten winners from 26 starters in 2008. He was awarded $50,000.
