Grade 2 winner Smooth Jazz has relocated from New York to Ghost Ridge Farm in Felton, Pennsylvania, for the 2010 season.
The sire of multiple graded stakes winner Smooth Air from three crops of racing age, Smooth Jazz will stand for $3,500.
A ten-year-old by Storm Boot out of Blushing Issue, by Blushing John, Smooth Jazz has sired 33 winners from 59 starters who earned $2,532,264 through Monday.
"With the strong Pennsylvania breeding and racing program, we think Smooth Jazz is a perfect fit,” said Carl McEnte, Ghost Ridge’s general manager. “He posted some of the best speed figures of his generation, has a sensational pedigree, and now has a champion and millionaire in his first crop to race. I believe the sky is the limit for this young Storm Cat line stallion and we're thrilled to have him join us at Ghost Ridge Farm."
Smooth Jazz won the 2002 Best Turn Stakes at Aqueduct and ’03 Commonwealth Breeders’ Cup Stakes (G2) at Keeneland Race Course. Trained by Todd Pletcher for Michael Tabor, he won five of 11 career starts and earned $321,105.
