Zambezi Sun to stand in France in 2010

French Group 1 winner Zambezi Sun (GB) has been retired and will enter stud in 2010 at Pascal Noue’s Haras de la Hetraie in Normandy, France.

Noue said the five-year-old Dansili (GB) horse out of Imbabala, by Zafonic, would arrive in late August from the United States, where he was unplaced in four graded races this year. No stud fee has been announced. Noue said shares are available.

Trained in France by Pascal Bary for owner-breeder Khalid Abdullah, Zambezi Sun registered a five-length win in the 2007 Juddmonte Grand Prix de Paris (Fr-G1) at Longchamp. He defeated Schiaparelli by a half-length in the 2008 Qatar Prix Foy (Fr-G2) at Longchamp and was sent to trainer Bobby Frankel in the U.S. after finishing unplaced in the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Fr-G1).

Bred in Great Britain, Zambezi Sun won four of 15 career starts and earned $853,754. He is a half brother to French Group 2 winner Kalabar.
