Awesome Nasrannie rallied three-wide on the turn and shook free to a clear win in the fifth race on Sunday at Turf Paradise to become the first career winner for Utah-based sire Awesome Buddy.

Trained by F. C. Frazier for owners Linden Hatch and Brent Stapely, Awesome Nasrannie completed five furlongs in :59.30 on a track rated as fast. Bred in Arizona by the University of Arizona, Awesome Nasrannie is out of the Al Nasr (Fr) mare Nasrannie and a half sister to stakes winner Sonora Desert. Her grandam, Annie Aaron, is a half sister to 1988 Horse of the Year Alysheba.

A seven-year-old by Awesome Again out of the Grade 3-placed winning Indian Ridge mare Rosebud (GB), Awesome Buddy is a half brother to Group 1 winner Reel Buddy. He has three two-year-olds in his first crop.
