Louisiana-bred standout Costa Rising to Clear Creek Stud
Ten-time stakes winner Costa Rising will stand his first season in 2010 at Clear Creek Stud in Folsom, Louisiana.
Costa Rising was the Louisiana-bred Horse of the Year in 2007, when he won the Evangeline Mile Handicap in open company and three restricted stakes events, including the Louisiana Champions Day Classic Stakes for a second consecutive year.
The Royal Strand (Ire) horse out of Gal’s List, by List, set a track record in the Evangeline Mile, stopping the clock in 1:36.51. He registered two turf stakes wins as a three-year-old in 2006.
“He is one of the top three Louisiana-breds in history,” trainer Glenn Delahoussaye. “I think for this region he was a phenomenal athlete. I was privileged to his be his trainer.”
Charles Castille Jr. raced Costa Rising, who won 15 of 26 career starts and earned $901,616.
Dr. Delmar Caldwell’s and Jo Ann Thompson’s Double Dam Farm bred Costa Rising in Louisiana.
