Minister’s Fate first winner for Ministers Wild Cat
Minister’s Fate surged clear in the fifth race on Wednesday at the Solano County Fair and held on gamely to prevail by a half-length under Frank Alvarado and become the first career winner for California-based freshman sire Ministers Wild Cat.
Trained by William Morey for owner-breeder Tommy Town Thoroughbreds, which raced Ministers Wild Cat and stands the multiple stakes winner at its California farm, Minister’s Fate completed the five-furlong maiden claiming race in :58.72 on a track rated as fast. Minister’s Fate is out of the unraced Gone West mare Western Fate, a half sister to Grade 2 winner Points of Grace and multiple stakes winner Fatefully.
A nine-year-old by Deputy Minister out of 1993 champion three-year-old filly Hollywood Wildcat, by Kris S., Ministers Wild Cat stood the 2009 season for $7,500 at Tommy Town Thoroughbreds in Santa Ynez, California. A half brother to Grade 1 winner and sire War Chant and Group 2 winner Ivan Denisovich (Ire), Ministers Wild Cat has 51 two-year-olds in his first crop.
Ministers Wild Cat amassed six wins in 22 career starts and banked $368,729 in purse earnings. He won the 2003 Golden State Mile Stakes at Golden Gate Fields and the ‘05 Jacques Cartier Stakes at Woodbine. In 2003, he finished second in the El Camino Real Derby (G3) and Affirmed Handicap (G3).
