You Take It Easy first winner Margie’s Wildcat

You Take It Easy spurted clear to a 5 1/4-length romp in the second race at Woodbine on Thursday to become the first career winner for Central Kentucky-based sire Margie’s Wildcat.

Trained by Nicholas Gonzalez for owner Martha Gonzalez, You Take It Easy accelerated gamely in the stretch and won easily in :52.15 for 4 1/2 furlongs on the synthetic Polytrack surface. Bred in Ontario by Hal Snowden Jr., the chestnut colt is out of stakes winner Stoney Jody, by Silver Survivor.

An eight-year-old by Storm Cat out of 1993 champion three-year-old filly Hollywood Wildcat, by Kris S., Margie’s Wildcat stood in 2009 for $2,500 at Roseglade Farm in Wilmore, Kentucky. A half brother to 2000 Breeders’ Cup Mile (G1) winner and sire War Chant and Group 2 winner Ivan Denisovich (Ire), Margie’s Wildcat has 14 two-year-olds in his first crop.
