Chatain to stand at Lane’s End Texas

Two-time Hal’s Hope Handicap (G3) winner and track record setter Chatain has been retired from racing and will enter stud in 2009 at William S. Farish’s Lane’s End Texas in Hempstead, Texas.

The Forest Wildcat horse out of multiple stakes winner Roujoleur, by Red Ransom, will stand for a private fee.

Chatain concluded his racing career with $276,330 in purse earnings and six wins in nine career starts. The six-year-old horse set a one-mile track record of 1:33.87 at Gulfstream Park while opening his four-year-old campaign with a win in the 2007 Hal’s Hope Handicap.

Trained by Angel Penna Jr. for Lazy F Ranch, Chatain also won the 2008 Hal’s Hope Handicap and captured the ’07 William Livingston Stakes at the Meadowlands.

Breeders interested in inquiring about Chatain should contact Danny Shifflett, farm manager at Lane’s End Texas, at (979) 826-3366.
