Wiseman’s Ferry to stand in Pa.

Posted: Monday, November 17, 2008 4:53 PM

by Tim Nichols

Multiple Grade 3 winner Wiseman’s Ferry will stand the 2009 breeding season at Gayle Gerth’s Dana Point Farm in Lenhartsville, Pennsylvania.

Stuart Fitzgibbon, commercial director for Castleton Lyons, said the nine-year-old by Hennessy out of the unraced Silver Deputy mare Emmaus will stand for a $3,000 stud fee. Wiseman’s Ferry stood the previous season for $5,000 at Castleton Lyons in Lexington.

“With the tremendous Pennsylvania Stallion Series program for breeders there, the Wiseman’s Ferry Syndicate is excited about the prospect of standing this son of Hennessy where his offspring will have such an advantage,” Fitzgibbon said.

Winner of the 2002 West Virginia Derby (G3) and Lone Star Derby (G3), Wiseman’s Ferry has 59 two-year-olds in his current crop. Among 126 foals of racing age, Wiseman’s Ferry has sired 39 winners, including two stakes winners, among 71 starters.
