Coolmore Ireland lowers most stud fees

Posted: Wednesday, November 12, 2008 2:57 PM

Coolmore has reduced the advertised stud fees for 16 of the 20 returning stallions at its base in County Tipperary, Ireland.

Many of the reductions ranged from 20% to 30%, including a 30% drop for 2007 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Lucien Barriere (Fr-G1) winner Dylan Thomas (Ire), who will stand his second season for approximately $44,660 (35,000 euros).

The fees for Danehill Dancer and Montjeu (Ire) are both now listed as private.

Five-time Group 1 winner Duke of Marmalade (Ire), the lone new addition, will start his stud career at approximately $51,000 (40,000 euros).

Hawk Wing, Night Shift, and Westerner are absent from the 2009 roster after standing at Coolmore in Ireland in ’08.

“In light of the current economic climate we have significantly reduced the fees of our stallions across the board," said Coolmore Manager Christy Grassick. "Coolmore has always endeavored to stand the best horses and to offer breeders the best deals in the business.”

The Coolmore roster and approximate fees in United States dollars, with euro value in parentheses and comparative fees in 2008:
