First career winner for Peace Rules a memorable one

Posted: Monday, May 26, 2008 9:52 PM

Trifecta King surged clear in the stretch and powered to a 3 3/4-length victory in the $84,175 Cinderella Stakes on Sunday at Hollywood Park to become the first career winner for classic-placed freshman sire Peace Rules.

Trained by Doug O’Neill for owners Dave Kenney, Mark Leib, and Gary Margolis, the bay filly completed 5 1/2 furlongs in 1:03.49 as the 3-to-2 favorite in her second career start. Out of the unraced Unbridled mare Mamita, Trifecta King finished second in her career debut on May 15 at Hollywood Park.

Peace Rules, an eight-year-old by Jules out of the winning Hold Your Peace mare Hold to Fashion, stands for $12,500 at Vinery’s Summerfield, Florida operation. A half brother to multiple stakes winner Wild Fashion, Peace Rules has 102 two-year-olds in his first crop.

Peace Rules won nine of 19 career starts, including three Grade 1 victories, and earned $3,084,278. He won the Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (G1) and Haskell Invitational Handicap (G1) in 2003 and the Suburban Handicap (G1) in 2004. Peace Rules amassed seven graded stakes wins and finished third in the ’03 Kentucky Derby (G1).
