Posted: Saturday, May 24, 2008 6:03 PM

Bea D J Code set the pace and held on to prevail by three-quarters of a length in fourth race on Saturday at Calder Race Course to become the first career winner for freshman sire Omega Code.

Trained, owned, and bred by Albino Rossi, Bea D J Code completed two-furlong maiden special weight race in :21.94 in her second career start after finishing second in her career debut on May 16 at Calder. The dark bay or brown filly is out of stakes-placed winner Bea D J, by D. J. Cat.

Omega Code, an eight-year-old by Elusive Quality out of the Deputy Minister mare Tin Oaks, stands for $7,500 at Hartley/De Renzo, Walmac South, in Ocala. A half brother to Grade 3-placed multiple stakes winner Tempest Fugit, Omega Code has 96 two-year-olds in his first crop.

Omega Code won three of 12 career starts, including a one-length win in the 2003 San Miguel Stakes (G3) at Santa Anita Park, and earned $183,847 in three seasons. Omega Code also won the Ron and Jessman Cloud Memorial Stakes at Fresno, where he set a track record of 1:07.70 for six furlongs.
