O'Sotopretty first winner for Soto

Posted: Saturday, June 21, 2008 5:37 PM

Multiple graded stakes winner Soto sired his first winner on Friday when O'Sotopretty rallied from fourth to win a maiden claiming race at Churchill Downs.

O'Sotopretty, a bay filly out of La Turk by Turkoman, completed the 5 1/2-furlong race in 1:08.17 on a sealed sloppy track for trainer Dale Romans and owner Frank Jones Jr.

An eight-year-old by Dehere out of the Crafty Prospector mare Subtle Fragrance, Soto stands for $7,500 at Walmac Farm in Lexington. Bred by Domino Stud of Lexington, he has 40 two-year-olds in his first crop.

Trained by Michael Dickinson for Galopp LLC, Soto won five of six starts in two seasons, including victories in the 2002 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (G2) and the '03 West Virginia Derby (G3).
