Swiss Yodeler moves to Harris Farms

Posted: Friday, July 25, 2008 5:02 PM

Swiss Yodeler, sire of 2006 TVG Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1) champion and Eclipse Award winner Thor’s Echo, has been moved to John C. Harris’s farm near Coalinga, California.

The 14-year-old’s progeny has earned $16,626,626. His seven crops have won 19 stakes races and placed 35 times in stakes races.

“I have always greatly admired Swiss Yodeler and am absolutely delighted to have him standing at our farm,” Harris said. “He was a top race horse and is an outstanding sire. His progeny perform well on all types of track surfaces and at a variety of distances.”

The Eastern Echo horse out of Drapeau, by Raja Baba, previously stood at Pepper Oaks Farm in Santa Ynez, California, for a 2008 stud fee of $10,000.

Swiss Yodeler’s 2009 fee will be announced in September.

“Patricia Youngman and her staff at Pepper Oaks did an excellent job with Swiss Yodeler and we appreciate their contributions to his success,” said owner Heinz Steinman.

A Grade 1 and multiple graded stakes winner who earned $761,442 in his career, Swiss Yodeler went to stud in 1999 after winning six times in 24 starts during a four-year racing career for trainer Mike Harrington.

As a sire, Swiss Yodeler produced 71% starters from foals and 71% winners from starters.

“We will definitely be sending some of our best mares to him and know that he will do very well here,” Harris said. “Anyone looking at him will like him.”

Harris Farms also stands Cee’s Tizzy, sire of two-time Breeders’ Cup Classic champion Tiznow.
