Group 1-placed Old Deuteronomy to Australia

Posted: Monday, January 28, 2008 4:37 PM

by Jeff Lowe

Old Deuteronomy, a Group 1-placed winner by Storm Cat, will begin his stud career during the Southern Hemisphere season at Emirates Park Stud in Australia.

No stud fee has been announced. Originally scheduled to stand at Walmac Farm in Lexington in 2007 at an advertised fee of $4,000, Old Deuteronomy was sold prior to the season, said John T.L. Jones III, Walmac’s managing director.

Out of the Seeking the Gold mare Jewel in the Crown, Old Deuteronomy finished second in the 2003 Phoenix Stakes (Ire-G1) at the Curragh and Four Star Sales Richmond Stakes (Eng-G2) at Goodwood and ’05 Sea O Erin Breeders’ Cup Mile Handicap at Arlington Park.

Bred in Kentucky by Pacelco S.A., Old Deuteronomy won three of 19 career starts and earned $238,778.
